I’m delighted to be collaborating again with Bernadette McBride on this Writing & Wellbeing Workshop in the beautiful and tranquil surroundings of Calderstones Park.
Our mini-retreat follows the Spring Equinox (which occurs on Friday 20th March at 03:50am) and will lead you forward into a season associated with balance, growth and new beginnings.

Flow is the essence in both the world of yoga and writing, and in combining the two the processes and output involved in each become deepened and more fully expressed and experienced. The movement of the mind is so closely linked to the movement of the body.
As we transition from a season of inward reflection to a season of renewal, I will lead cleansing and balancing yoga and holistic coaching sessions, focused on shedding stagnant energy, habits and beliefs and bringing our intentions and creative energy to fruition.
Bernadette will lead sessions on both nature writing and writing for wellbeing, though the two often come as one. Weather dependent, we will spend time outside in the park and walled garden for a creative writing exercise.
The Reader Cafe will serve a delicious and light salad bowl lunch (vegan & GF options) and herbal teas will be available throughout the day.
Bernadette McBride is a writer and creative practitioner who recently won the Liverpool Guild award for ‘The Biggest Impact on the City of Liverpool’ for her nature writing workshops in the community, the NHS and within city cultural institutions. She is the author of Roots: The Eco-journal (pub. Green Guild 2018) and is currently working on a second edition. Bernadette holds an MRes in Creative Writing from the University of Liverpool and is currently a PhD Candidate at UoL in Creative Writing working on climate change in fiction, her research is funded by the John Lennon Memorial Scholarship.
Karen Podesta is a certified Holistic Life Coach and Mind Body Practitioner and Director of More Love Yoga and Meditation (200hr Yoga Alliance). She works with individuals, groups and businesses to deliver one-to-one sessions, classes, workshops, retreats and wellbeing packages. She currently teaches on the Calderstones Mansion House yoga schedule, delivering Heart-Centered Hatha every Thursday.
